San Francisco Seminar Overview:
Our seminar in San Francisco is located at Fort Mason Center. This location will feature Positive Discipline presented by Lori Onderwyzer, CPDLT.
Lori Onderwyzer is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer. She has also been a certificated teacher and educational consultant for over 20 years. After spending many years in the classroom, Lori’s current practice includes such services as parent and teacher coaching, facilitating parent classes and workshops and staff development for schools, districts and the Alameda County Office of Education. Her passion is helping to create encouraging relationships in families and schools where together young people and adults learn to be respectful, responsible and resourceful learners, communicators and problem solvers. Lori is an inspiring and genuine facilitator who lives and models the Positive Discipline principles she teaches.
Positive discipline is discipline that TEACHES. Learn to successfully implement effective strategies that enhance cooperation, responsibility and self-discipline. We will focus on “why children do what they do” and the five criteria for effective discipline. You will have an opportunity to practice tools that you can begin using right away.
Our second speaker in San Francisco is Ee Leng (Elaine) New, MA Toddler Head Teacher at SFSU Children’s Campus. Elaine will be presenting on Communication Strategies for families and children.
Elaine’s workshop will share communication strategies used at the Children’s Campus at San Francisco State University. Many of the strategies apply to children of all ages and all families. The key is to communicate with children and families the way that you would like to be communicated with. In this workshop, you will learn about the temperament of yourself and the children you care for, discuss scenarios in small groups to come up with effective strategies, and share some of your own scenarios.
